NEC defers admissions, appeal process

Admissions based on Grade 5 Scholarship exam performance and the appeal process have been delayed by a directive from the National Election Commission (NEC) until the elections are concluded, an Education Ministry official said.

“We intended to complete the placements within the next two weeks, but now it may be the next term when the students are admitted,” he said.       Earlier, the NEC also stopped the admission of 44,000 students to all other grades except Grades 1, 5 and 11, on the grounds it would influence the election. - DW
