The 125th Annual General Meeting of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS) is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 26th, 2019 at the Sri Lanka Foundation, commencing at 5.00 pm.

The WNPS has, for 125 years, been an active proponent of wildlife conservation in Sri Lanka. The 3rd oldest non-governmental wildlife conservation organization in the world, it was responsible for the setting up and administration of the first National Parks, Wilpattu and Yala. It was also instrumental in the setting up of the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) and in the formulation of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance (FFPO), the primary conservation legislation in the country.

Throughout these 125 years, it has been the WNPS that has been in the forefront of the conservation movement in Sri Lanka, and continues to be so today.
