To prevent sexual harassment of women and girls in public transport, six special trains were launched on Friday with compartments reserved for women and girls. This was one of the main events to mark International Women’s Day on Friday and the man who put the country on the right track was Transport Minister Arjuna Ranatunga. In the Budget 2019, the Government said one of the main reasons for the drop in the female work force was the sexual harassment in trains and buses. – Pic by Sameera Weerasekera
