With school holidays again in April, the National Avurudu Festival has started to warm the holiday season. Amaya Resorts and Spas have the best in store for its patrons this coming season with traditional Avurudu activities and various holiday offers.

Teaming up with three card offers, Amaya Resorts is setting the mood for a lovely holiday break this Avurudu for the whole family, friends and loved ones.

Avurudu traditions

Amaya Hills is all set with food promotions and other activities for the April holidays. A Burger Promotion at the Dumbara Bar will come alive from April 8th to the 13th from 11.00am to 5.00pm and an international lunch buffet at the Rasawasala Restaurant with oriental music. The dinner highlights will take a trip around the world starting with Chinese on the 8th, Indian on the 9th and 12th, Italian on the 10th and Sri Lankan on the 13th of April.

On April 14th, there will be main Avurudu Fest ‘Bakmaha Ulela’ from 10.00am at the hotel garden followed by lunch and a BBQ night at the Rasawasala. The ‘Bakmaha Ulela’ will include fun competitions such as bun eating, lime balancing, ‘pol athu vivima’, sack race and much more.

At Amaya Beach Passikudah, the guests will be entertained with the traditional New Year games, traditional huts for Saruvath, toddy and sweets. For young ladies, there will be an Avurudu Kumari Pageant divided into two categories – 6 to 12yrs and 18 to 30yrs. All of this will take place by the Aqua Bar, poolside and Spice Garden.

Going into the heart of Cultural Triangle, Amaya Lake in Dambulla is all geared up and ready to welcome the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on April 14th. On April 15th, the resort will have its traditional ‘Avurudu Ulela’ with activities for the whole family along with ‘Avurudu Kumaraya and Kumari’ pageants. A special ambula lunch will be served at the ‘Welan Kaale’.
