The glitter and sparkle of entertainment filled the air at the Sheikh Rasheed Auditorium, Indian High School in Dubai, when a star-spangled show kept a ‘Full House’ enthralled during the fund raiser held under the auspices of ‘Sahana’ – the only Sri Lankan Welfare Association registered with the State of Dubai.

Sri Lanka’s leading compere, the legendary Vijaya Corea was called to be the Master of Ceremonies at this show which was in aid of a, not just good, but humanitarian cause of helping Sri Lankans in the UAE, who have become victims of circumstances beyond their control. The hospitalised, imprisoned and stranded have been among those who have been recipients of the aid provided by ‘Sahana’.

In the throes of his presentation, Vijaya Corea kept the audiences in fits of laughter simultaneously breaking the monotony during what was described as the longest show ever held in Dubai. Monisha, who goes mike-side for ‘Lak Nada Radio’ in Dubai was heard complimenting Vijaya at the conclusion of the show saying ‘you truly engaged the audience and gave us a priceless lesson in how to handle a microphone’.

The Sri Lankan stars who were present on stage that night included Annesley and the Super Chimes, Indrani Perera, Anil Bhareti, Christopher Paul and Priya Sooriyasena, who drew rounds of applause from an appreciative audience whose tickets gave them the twin opportunity of helping themselves to appealing melodies and lyrics while helping someone in dire need.
