The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Sri Lanka Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) have a common objective in ensuring the delivery of effective, high quality safe and affordable pharmaceutical products to satisfy the varying needs of patients.  “It is our strong belief that if the MOH, other regulatory bodies and the Chamber work together, we would be able to jointly improve the quality of service we provide to the most important person in the value chain – the patient,” the chamber’s newly appointed President Palitha Jayatileka was quoted in a media release as saying at the recent 55th AGM of the chamber.

The chamber president welcomed the Government’s vision in encouraging local manufacture noting that many chamber members are moving towards local manufacturing operations.  Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne, the chief guest, said that all stakeholders must work together to build a sustainable and equitable business environment, “I have noted that the SLCPI has been very successful in raising a collective voice on issues faced by the industry through keeping open lines of communication with regulators and relevant stakeholders.”
