Renuka City Hotel has enhanced its competitiveness within the Colombo city hotels by re-launching its branding , refurbishing its rooms and adding a rooftop view from the poolside since its latest improvements.

Spending over Rs. 300 million for refurbishing its 99 rooms and adding a gymnasium and rooftop with a pool in addition to increasing its outlook in the five banquet halls, the city hotel has rebranded its logo in keeping with modern designing trends using its first letters RCH.

Established in 1972, the hotel expanded in 1995 and then made further renovations and refurbishments in 2013 to improve its outlook. The hotel has been refurbished every eight years with funds generated from its own profits.

Rooms are divided into 40 deluxe, 18 super deluxe and the rest as standard and these have also been upgraded with increased amenities for convenience of travellers. But only 44 of the rooms have been redesigned including the banquet hall by DDN Design and Sanken Construction in the past eight months.

The banquet halls could accommodate 250 persons that is also located in both wings with one situated alongside the Eclipse Bar, which also had been refurbished. The halls have been equipped with deluxe interiors and state of the art lighting in addition to providing multi-functional facilities with in-built partitions creating individual rooms to meet each client’s requirements.

The hotel will now be catering to the senior and the 25-35 year age group traveller as the modernisation has helped it to move up from its present 3-star status to a 4-star rating in future.

Selling a room for US$75 could even go down further as the competitiveness in Colombo has increased causing a price war especially during the peak season. The hotel spent Rs. 250 million for the refurbishment of the poolside, gymnasium and car park.Guests and visiting diners could indulge in the hotel’s newly refurbished restaurant The Palmyrah that specialises in authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with an emphasis on Jaffna fare for over 40 years. The new menu offers a variety of international favourites while specialising in the best local dishes as well.
