Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF) popularly known as Play House-Kotte presents its latest programme for children named “Creative Encounters” during the school vacation in June 2014.

“Creative Encounters” allows your child to learn and enjoy the basic elements of different art forms such as drama, dance, music and painting. This programme is aimed at enhancing the artistic taste, cheerfulness and playful sense of the child through creative activities and thereby developing his/her abilities and self-esteem.

While providing a valuable opportunity to learn basic forms of art, the programme encourages the child to explore human relationships, socio-cultural values and achieve world awareness. Therefore, taking part in “Creative Encounters” would certainly be a different and rewarding way for children to spend their December school vacation.

LCYTF is the leading institution for children and youth theatre productions in Sri Lanka. It was founded by Somalatha Subasinghe, the veteran playwright, actress and theatre director in 1981 to promote theatre production and performances specifically for children and youth, training of actors and research on theatre studies. Since its inception, the institution has produced a repertoire of mainly musical theatre for children and youth and award-winning mainstream art theatre productions which were performed in the island as well as abroad. In January 2007, LCYTF was incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 3 of 2007.

Children between the ages seven and fifteen can take part in the programme which is conducted on weekdays. The programme runs for five consecutive days from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. at Lion’s Club Hall, Jayanthipura, Battaramulla. On the final day of the programme, children will perform in the presence of their families.
