Ladies College performed “Dinner is Served” winning the second place. The drama set in America in the mid 1950’s revolved around a Mrs. Bixby, the wife of a NYPD detective who has an affair with Colonel Cyril. She goes to extreme lengths to cover up a mink coat given to her by her lover as well as her affair, she goes through difficult lengths and when one thing leads to another ends up killing her husband with a leg of lamb.

When his colleagues come to investigate the apparent murder, acting her part as the devastated widow she insists on preparing dinner and serves the leg of lamb- the murder weapon. The irony lay in the police discussing the probable scenarios when the object which could possibly crack the case was right before them.

What the Judges said
“Ladies College drama was brave and had a good idea behind the story. There were little drawbacks which brought the audience back to reality and broke the suspense of the play.

There was a little straining in the acting though diction and clarity were excellent. There was also slow and thoughtful acting.  Scene changes went well but sometimes they were a little too ambitious and in some places lost the continuity. It was overall well executed. The play had a comedy register.”
