While the Josephians didn’t retain the championship the cast did take home an award. St. Joseph’s College who performed an adaptation of “Macbeth” went home with the award for best backstage management. The adaptation began with Macbeth meeting the three sisters for the first time and ended with him becoming a very confused king.

What the judges said
“St. Joseph’s College had incredible energy that always makes a play better. Their choice of text was an interesting and a difficult text to produce, not forgetting the strong language of the original play.

They used both original Shakespearean language as well as their own but they paid more attention to the effects more than the actual acting, character portrayal and the meaning of the plot. It was a good performance but there was perhaps too much of melodrama and effects.”

Amrith Senaratne took home the award for Best Supporting Male portrayal - Banquo
