A fine allround performance by Mahinda skipper Malith Mahela helped Mahinda College Galle record an easy innings and 24 runs win over President’s Rajagiriya in the Under 19 inter-school cricket concluded at Mahinda grounds in Galle yesterday.
Malith who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 30 to bowl out President’s for a score of 115 made a top knock of 76 to steer his side to make a score of 285.

St. Benedict’s registered a first innings win against De Mazenod in the match concluded at Kandana. De Mazenod resuming from their overnight score of six for no loss was restricted to a score of 193 while St Benedict’s on day one made 258 for 7 declared which came on the back of an unbeaten 102 by Janindu Karunatilleke.

Ananda too recorded a first innings win over St. Joseph’s at Darley Road. Ananda from their overnight score of 203 for 4 went on to make 278 for 9 declared. St. Josephs in reply was able to muster only 181.

Royal dominated their drawn match against Prince of Wales which ended at Reid Avenue.

Half tons by Sachintha Fonseka and Kusal Lakthilina enabled St. Sebastian’s get the better of Wesley on the first innings at Moratuwa.
A match bag of 12 for 74 by Mohamed Afzal helped St. Anne’s Kurunegala defeat St. Patrick’s Jaffna by a massive 152 runs in the match which ended at St. Patrick’s ground in Jaffna.

Spinner Ashan Rukmal’s match bag of 10 for 92 paved the way for St. Anthony’s to record an eight-wicket win against St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya in the match concluded at Katuneriya.

Two fine knocks by Thimila Vidyasekera and Shifran Muthaliph who together put on a 134 runs for the sixth saw D.S. Senanayake College taking first lease of the wicket end day one making a massive score o f 374 for 7 against Maliyadeva at Wijerama Mawatha.
