Computer games

They say now the former big wig that had three powerful letters along with his name is doing nothing at the Citadel. The contract that he was entrusted with also has gone with the wind. People now say that this tall young man goes through the day playing computer games.

The big headache

The affair where a cricketer was seen trying to open an aircraft door which was in flight is now old hat. Recently the father of this lad met the man who had ordered that the lad be fined all his match fees for this odd behaviour and were engaged in a hot argument. This has reached the ears of the Big Man who finds the complaints of these two individuals a big headache!

Question over TV rights

The stage is all set for the National Sports Festival which gets underway in Nawalapitiya today. However a snag remains over the telecasting of this three day event as a staggering amount has been allocated for this TV network to telecast the event. Sports fans are now eager to know why the National TV network Rupavahini was not called in. They say that the amount charged by Rupavahini would be very much less.

Back to the whistle

Recently a lot of publicity was given to a referee who had announced that he will not be ‘blowing’ at matches as he is now over the hills. Now we find that this official is trying to come back into the fold once again. The reason for this is that he finds himself cold shouldered by those who had done certain business transactions with him by was of selling boots, balls and jerseys. The sports lay clearly states that an individual who has quit the job has nothing to do with such dealings. So do not be surprised if this individual is back again with a whistle.

Double expenses

A coach who is Brazilian was taken to Nepal with a national team but this coach cannot understand a word of English… leave aside the Nepalese language. So a translator had to be flown to Nepal to counter the position. Now they find that they have to pay more to the translator than to the coach. Apparently the fault lies in the administrators who did not see such a problem. The outcome is double expenses.

Brand new certificates

How come athletic officials who are in the executive committee produce brand new certificates? This happened when the athletic association asked officials to submit their qualifications to prove that they had taken part in events in the past. Some of the certificates produced are brand new but the achievements have been attained in the 60s and 70s. Officials are at a loss as to how these certificates are so crisp and proper when they expected them to be old and coloured after all these years.

The tyrant

They say now he is not the same person. A while ago he was understanding and co-operative. But, now he is like a tyrant. He wants everything done his way and any one who crosses his path, better get his palm read.

For the past few months two big wigs at the Citadel have sought medical treatment because of the pressure that this individual is putting on them. At the same time if you need to learn new words in the Sinhala language just begin an argument with him against his point of view.
