Rankevita 2 is Ready

Udayakantha Warnasooriya’s latest film Ran Kevita – 2 (Gopaluge Wickrema), a story revolving around ‘Gopalu Yaka’, a demon who lurks in ranches with a stick in his hand (a character that comes across in Sri Lanka folklore) will be released in CEL and National Film Corporation (NFC)- Ridma circuit cinemas around the country from August 23.

Co-produced by Ranjith Jayasooriya, Praveen Jayarathna, Janitha Marasinghe and Udayakantha Warnasooriya, the second chapter of Warnasuriya’s film is shot by Digital Red camera, one of the latest cameras used in the industry. The film stars Hisham Samsudeen, Harith Samarasinghe, Susantha Chandramalee, Ananda Wickremage, Damitha Saluwadana, Asela Jayakody, Don Guy, Saman Hemaratne, Ananda Athukorala, Janesh Silva, Chathura Perera, Saman Almeida, Bennet Ratnayake, Sangeetha Basnayake, Saman Weerasinghe, Kumara Thirimadura and Susil Wickremasinghe.

The film story continues from ‘Rankevita 1’ which narrated around bosom friends Suran and Janith. There during a school vacation Janith who attended to a school in town visited Suran, who lived and studied in the village school. Spending a whole month together the buddies discovered a rare power to see demons and spirits. They manage to communicate and befriend the demon which has a stick that gives anything you wish.

In Rankevita – 2, the story narrates as Suran goes to town to spend the next vacation with Janith, and he takes Gopalu Yaka with him. They manage to hide Gopalu in the house but in town the demon hardly gets any place to hide from the sunlight which is unbearable to him. However at night, Gopalu become normal and active.

The film which was shot with a RED camera, one of the latest cameras used for motion pictures internationally also has scenes which were done using three dimension animation work done under the supervision of Maheel R. Perera, Thilanka Perera, Siddhartha Nayanananda and Analee de Silva.

Third film of Millennium Entertainment, “Rankevita II- Gopaluge Wickrema” is assisted in direction by Donald Jayantha and production executive is Ashoka Ariyaratne, while music director is Mahesh Denipitiya.
