A moving Russian film ‘Holiday’ directed by Garik Sukachov will be screened at the Russian Centre auditorium in Colombo at 6 pm on August 30.

Set in a small village in western Russia’ Holiday’ is a story of two days in the life of an ordinary family: father, mother and their five daughters. June 22, 1941 family celebrates daughter’s birthday. It’s a beautiful sunny day, a joyful and cheerful. For girls it is filled with important events and adventure – her birthday is celebrated not only relatives, but the whole village.

And no one knows what tomorrow will take Dad to work in the district center and will return in a few hours in a guard uniform to say goodbye to his family. And that at the moment of farewell to the village will already include the Germans. And on the river, on the shore, where yesterday sunbathing, enjoying a carefree happy family, life can suddenly break off … And now they are having fun, singing songs and raising toasts to the future, for the happy life of her daughter.

The 2010 film stars Masha Oamer, Sasha Korolyov and Alexander Balchov in the lead roles.
