Funday Times

Santa’s present

By Viruna Cooray, Royal College, Colombo

Time: 11.30 a.m., Date: March 10, 2012, Venue: Peliyagoda You will wonder what I am going to say. It’s about a trip in a plane. It was the present I wanted from Santa last Christmas.

As a winner of Wycherly’s Wonderful Wings, I got two air tickets. It was to see our paradise Sri Lanka from the sky. My mother accompanied me.

When we went to Peliyagoda dock, uncle in-charge checked the air tickets and told us to wait for some time. We saw two sea planes land on waters of Kelani river. One plane came to that place at 11.20 a.m. So we got in. The co-pilot explained about the trip.

After that the trip began. First it went on water for some time and then took off gradually. We saw so many things like small toys. It was nice to see rivers, buildings, sea, coconut trees, Katunayake airport, harbours and religious places from the sky.

Thank you so much aunties and uncles of Wycherley International School, Funday Times and Sri Lankan Airlines. I will never forget the trip. It was like viewing paradise from heaven. Thank you so much for giving me the present I wanted.
