Lekhraj Automobiles donates medical equipment to Kalubowila Hospital

Lekhraj Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd recently donated life-saving medical equipment to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila. The equipment included a state-of-the-art laser unit for the destruction of kidney and biliary stones, a haemodialysis unit and urgently needed intensive care equipment consisting of ventilator facilities.

The donation was part of the company's CSR project initiated in memory of its founder the late Lekhraj M. Ganwani. The company said it also plans to provide brand new equipment to develop the High Dependency Unit for critically ill patients.

Among those present when the donation was made recently were the Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Ajith Mendis; the Director of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the Dean of the Sri Jayewardenepura Medical Sciences Faculty, Prof. Mohan de Silva; the Professor in Surgery, Prof. Srinath Chandrasekera, senior surgeons, senior anaesthetists and other staff. Prof. Chandrasekera was instrumental in coordinating the project.
