Southern Gujarat business delegation visits EXPO 2012

A group of 35 business delegates from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCII) visited EXPO 2012, organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board last week.
This is the first such delegation from Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry to visit Sri Lanka exclusively to explore business and investment opportunities, the Sri Lankan Consulate office in Mumbai said.

The Southern Gujarat delegation visited the trade event in Sri Lanka with the objectives to forge business partnerships in textile & apparel, jewellery, IT & BPO, Chemical & Agro Based industries and to identify potential suppliers to source apparel, giftware, toys, organic products, rubberized coir products, horticulture products etc; under the FTA between the two countries, it said. “The delegation visit is also aimed at further identifying opportunities for Southern Gujarat and Sri Lankan companies to work together to realize ambitious goals of economic growth in areas like tourism, infrastructure under the new economic development era of the island,” it said.

During the visit, the SGCCI and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka signed an MoU for future cooperation between the private sector and the business communities of southern Gujarat and Sri Lanka.
