Hummana is a place where you can admire a nature’s wonder. It is situated in the sea coast of Kudawella. Kudawella is a village in Tangalla Divisional Secretary’s area in Hambantota District. Everyday, many tourists visit this place. They come especially during the windy season.

There is a hillock near the sea coast. Waves come and dash against this hillock. There is a cave in the hillock. This is called a ‘Blow Hole’.

Waves enter this blow hole and water spouts out high in the air and drizzles down like a shower. As the water spouts out it creates a ‘hoom’ sound. So this place is named after this ‘hoom’ sound, as Hummana. The village is also called Hummana.

In this village there are about 200 families. Their main occupation is fishing. some of them are rich. They own fishing boats. Many are however poor.

Some people sell fish and other foods prepared with fish. They sell seashells too. Ranawara is the famous drink sold in this place. They do their business in cadjan sheds.

You have to buy tickets to enter this place. There is an iron fence around the blow hole.

There is a museum at the entrance. It is a place where you can enjoy a lot. Why not make a visit to this wonderful and beautiful place?
