Bad light brought an early end to a titanic struggle between bat and ball in the Trinity-Dharmaraja match at Asgiriya Stadium. It was a tight, tense encounter in which no quarter was asked or given. The scores reflect this. In reply to the Rajan total of 113, Trinity just got over the line making 114 for 9. Skipper Niroshan Dikwella made 50 in his usual attacking style.

The knock of the day, however, was played by Rajan skipper Sadun Weerakkodi. His 72 came off 72 balls. He reveled in the sweep and also timed his lofted shots superbly. Trinity’s target was 148 in 26 overs, but the wind was taken out of their sails with the fall of Dikwella.
