Old world charm at Colombo Fort Café

The Colombo Fort is truly an old world portrayal. But with the time it has changed into a modern city with number of sky scrapers and posh hotels. When you envision ‘Bistro’ or Tapas style dining….. you’re reminded of vivid images of an inviting, old world setting reminiscent of the cafes and restaurants found along the cobbled stone streets of quaint southern European and Mediterranean towns.

The cobbled stone streets are recreated at the heart of Fort amongst the Colombo sky scrapers.
Colombo Fort Café at Old Dutch Hospital building truly reflects this setting. The Old Dutch Hospital complex, a heritage site, is the latest addition to Colombo’s most crowded business center.

Colombo Fort Café offers a mix of the old world charm with the new. Within walking distance of the old street bazaars and 5 star hotels, the complex offers a mix for dining and exclusive shopping.
Colombo Fort café transports you to another era of restored Dutch colonial splendor with a sense of Causal elegance. It’s ideal to meet with friends, colleagues to chill out with Euro – Med cuisine engaging in spirited conversations, over a table laid out with delightfully exciting and sumptuous culinary fare.

Dining Style: It offers casual dining with an eclectic mix of Tapas/ Euro – Med cuisine to dine indoors in air conditioned comfort or al fresco style dining outdoors, under the stars. The unique feature is the open- style kitchen concept with visual cooking, where you feel you are a part of the restaurant.
Alec van Cuylenburg, the Director Operations of the Café, is all excited about the menu he has presented. He has all the reason to be with appetizers such as Café Special Calamari; Steamed Prawns tossed in spicy seasonings, Crab and Shrimp nachos to name a few.

The Flying Dutchman Burger is a must for lunch and you would have enough left over to take away too. The other highlight is the Tapas selection. Not forgetting out home-grown Harpo’s Pizza range with thin crust Italian pizzas in 24 flavours is on offer, to dive into. The Beverages offer a blend of exotic tropical fresh juices and hot and cold coffees and teas. Whole range of beverages is available for diners to chill out.

The Desserts range will not disappoint you with the all time favourite Tiramisu with Coffee Ice Cream, White Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry Sorbet and Cheesecake sampler trio just to name a few.
Managed by Harpo’s Restaurants, Colombo Fort Café is open from 10.00 am – 11.00 pm and till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. There is ample parking at the back of the complex.
