Holy Family Convent revamps its online presence

Spreading their wings over the worldwide web, Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya, relaunched their school website. It was a moment of truth for the project committee and the Information Technology Club of the Convent as they ceremoniously launched the school website at a function held recently.

“It was ten years ago that we launched our first website, but there was room for improvement, there was a need to take a leap into the future and be a part of it,” said Reverend Sister Chandani Jayasuriya, Principal of the school.“Much effort was put in by the girls, and the fruits of their labour can be seen today.”

A wave of enthusiasm transcends across the assembly gathering as eager eyes look forward to seeing their alma mater take on the web by storm. Holy Family Convent has long been a highly reputed educational institute, giving rise to a bountiful of scholars and having the privilege of being the first of many. This time too, Holy Family Convent becomes one of the first schools in Sri Lanka to be equipped with a dynamic website.

The website was developed by 3CS, a company with a number of professional websites in their repertoire. “It was a bit of a challenge, because this is the first time we created a website for a school,” says Sandaruwan Madduma Bandara, CEO of 3CS. “Our team got their heads together and aimed at producing a website that would leave its mark,” adds Mr Sandaruwan while explaining that the website is highly informative, with a unique timeline that tells the tale of the success of the Convent over the years.

The intuitive content management system allows the students to update events and notices without hassle. “In my personal opinion this is currently the best school website,” he says, to an assembly that roared in delight. “The hard work though, lies in the future – because it’s the responsibility of the students to update and maintain the website,” he said.

The website itself is visually appealing and uses eye-catching images, while maintaining clarity and simplicity. “We started off project proceedings in February, and have come along way to this day, where we realize the dream of a website of this standard,” said the Secretary of the Project Committee. “It was an immense learning experience, and we got to know more about our own school.” “The committee, IT club, senior students and prefects, members of the welfare society, the PPA, and the PTA, all chipped in to make this endeavour a reality,” she adds.

The website was officially launched by Reverend Sister Chandani Jayasuriya, to a resounding applause. The students of Holy Family Convent look forward to pioneering the worldwide web with their state of the art website.
