Funday Times

A fun day at Nuga Gama

Pix by M. A. Pushpa Kumara

It was yet another fun day at Nuga Gama for a group of lucky Funday Times Club members. Thirty members between 10 – 14 years, were welcomed to Nuga Gama by the PR Department of Cinnamon Grand Hotel. After a refreshing welcome drink, Uncle Gamini the village headman, took the kids on a tour of Nuga Gama, the village in the city. Aunty Tharika then held an interactive session on recycling, showing them how to make use of colourful pages of discarded magazines to make attractive envelopes for cards or letters.

She imparted interesting statistics which made an impact on the participants. Christmas being round the corner, Uncle Chanaka then demonstrated inexpensive but colourful wrapping for gifts, using magazine pages and paper ribbon. After a delicious meal, prepared by Uncle Ronnie and his staff at Nuga Gama, the Ice-Cream Mama distributed his ware to the kids. The event came to an end with two team games, focusing on recycling and environment which kept the Funday Times Club members much entertained.
