Luxury living on wheels gains popularity in Sri Lanka

Luxury living on wheels introduced by IWS Leisure (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of the IWS Holdings Group, is gaining popularity in Sri Lanka. The company has already sold one unit and they have received orders for two more units within a month of the launching of Auto-sleepers motorhome range in Colombo, said Andrew Perera, Group General Manager (Automobile Sector). He said that there is a considerable demand for Luxury Motorhomes from more discerning clientele. He disclosed that his company partners with Auto-Sleepers Group Ltd, the largest distributor of motorhomes since 1973 in the UK to introduce luxury motorhomes to Sri Lanka.

Arthur Senanayake, Chairman of IWS Leisure told the Business Times that “these new luxury motorhomes are a first of its kind in Sri Lanka and Auto-Sleepers provides an extensive range of motorhomes.” He revealed that the company will introduce a Caravan Club concept in the second phase of this venture. Caravan camp sites will be set up in interesting and scenic locations throughout Sri Lanka to boost the tourism industry. IWS Leisure will rent out these luxury motorhomes with a driver to provide tourists and locals alike with the ability to explore the country’s tourist destinations at the comfort of their own home, he added.

Geoff Scott, CEO of Auto-Sleepers Group Ltd, said that he was highly impressed about the keenness of Sri Lankan clients to know more about luxury motorhomes. “We focus on the build quality and careful selection of materials to ensure that we provide a unique product that is comfortable and lasts a lifetime,” he added. The Auto-Sleepers Mercedes County range has powerful, economical and technically advanced four cyclinder CDI Euro 5 diesel engines. All CDI diesel engines include a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. Automatic transmission is an option for an even more relaxed drive, he revealed.

A first in the motorhome industry, the Gloucester model features an electrically adjustable double bed system at the rear. The spacious front lounge area provides comfortable dining for up to six people. This area may convert into a transverse double bed for sleeping. With plentiful storage, a large food preparation area and spacious bathroom, this motorhome is ideal for those long-term trips away he said. Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Acceleration skid control (ASR), Start-off Assist and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).
