Mercantile rugby from Nov 18

Forty four teams from 39 establishments have confirmed their participation for the 41st
Mercantile Rugby Sevens, conducted by the Mercantile Rugby Football Association. The sevens rugby tournament is sponsored by Dialog for the ninth consecutive year and will be held on November 18, 19 and 20 at the CR & FC grounds, at Longdon Place in Colombo.

This year ten teams will make their debut in the competition - Nation Lanka, Expo Lanka, Mobitel, Commercial Leasing, Nations Trust Bank , Odel, Colombo Telecom and Jabin Consultants, Rainco and LB Finance. Defending champions MAS Holdings ‘A’ will be among the 10 teams drawn into the Cup along with, last year’s runners-up John Keells ‘A’, John Keells ‘B’, Sampath Bank, Dialog ‘A’, HSBC ‘A’, Commercial Bank, Commercial Credit ‘A, Access Group and newcomers, Nation Lanka.The remaining teams are, MAS Holdings ‘B’, Janashakthi Insurance, Amana Takaful, Suntel, Hirdaramani Group, Dialog ‘B, HSBC ‘B’, Seylan Bank, Metropolitan Group,

Standard Chartered, Softligic Holdings, Virtusa Corp., Ceylinco Insurance, Sri Lanka Insurance, NDB Bank, PABC Bank, Ceylon Tea Brokers, Commercial Credit ‘B’, Lanka Bell, Tri Star Apparel, Hayleys Group, Smart Shirts, Hemas Group, Ceylon Tobacco and Entrust. The draw for groupings for the Bowl and Shield segments will take place on November 14 at the CR & FC old pavilion at 6.30 p.m.
