Hatton National Bank joins with Sampath Bank to extend nation’s largest ATM network

New partnership now increases number of banks within network to eight. Sampath Bank and Hatton National Bank, two of Sri Lanka’s leading banks, have joined hands in order to give customers the opportunity to withdraw from over 1400 ATMs throughout the island. HNB became the latest bank to join the existing Sampath Bank powered inter bank ATM network when the two banks signed an agreement in this regard recently. .

The island wide ATM network managed by Sampath Bank will now include all 365 HNB ATMs along with those of BOC, Union Bank, DFCC Vardhana, Pan Asia Bank, NSB, HDFC and NDB Bank. Customers of HNB will greatly benefit from this venture as they will have access to their bank accounts 24 hours a day throughout all parts of the country through this network, making transactions ever more convenient.

Sampath Bank introduced the concept of ATMs to Sri Lanka in 1987, revolutionizing the country’s banking industry. Subsequently, Sampath Bank was responsible for pioneering the ATM Network Sharing concept, substantiating a huge saving for customers in the form of fees paid to foreign financial institutions for ATM usage. Now customers of banks within the network can withdraw money from all partner ATMs at a very low service charge. Sampath Bank will continue to expand its network through partnerships with other financial institutions and give customers more opportunities in order to live up to its promise: ‘we create time for you’.

HNB has been an integral part of the Sri Lankan financial industry since its inception as Hatton Bank in 1888 in Hatton. The bank has a strong commitment to provide superior banking services to its customers while contributing to economic growth in the country. This resourceful alliance among two of the country’s banking giants will pave the way for both banking institutions to deliver better service, greater convenience and more flexibility to their customer base.
