Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara

Having sacrificed their lives fighting to save the loved motherland, endowing us a free, united and independent Sri Lanka, brave sons of Lanka did a priceless service for the country. late 41 warriors who were students of Nalanda college are organized to respectfully remember by Nalanda junior old pupils association, Nalandian warriors and their families functioning "Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara" beside the warrior memorial in Nalanda college on 2nd of August at 10.00 am.

There was a time that people were terrified to carry on normal living states and spent hidden lives for the fear of blasting bombs, unknown bullets through the heart. Many parents had to drink the tear- water by seeing the deaths of loved sons, dead bodies on the doorstep. The terrific memories of 30 years long cruel war are freed from minds, and the wounds have healed.

Sri Lanka, which was a tear drop of Indian Ocean, had taken its former self - the "Pearl of East."
Unaware of the peace and joy of the country today, there are thousands of brave warriors who have fallen into the eternal deep sleep of death, asleep at peace in the arms of mother lanka - the fact should never fade from minds even for a second because they have offered us the freedom to live freely sacrificing their lives.

Sri Lanka is united under one flag with all the means of freedom and independence by now. All the nations and religions have marched and held hands together for the journey towards progress and development.

Nalandians are given the training as students, to be the first, even sacrificing lives to save the country, and nationality. Since the imperial era Nalanda College is fulfilling the national responsibility and need to make a straightforward and challenging Sinhala Buddhist generation for the benefit and existence of country.

Nalandian sons have been in front forces of Army, Navy, Air Force and Police. Among them 41 warriors have sacrificed their lives and many more have become disabled…. when still many who are serving the country. However, they are proud of all the warriors - who are dead and alive.

When reminding the situation of past years, there were ungrateful parties and people who insulted and under-estimated the gallant soldiers and their strength. But Nalandians considered all the army members as heroes of mother lanka- which is proved by 10 years long memorial history.

Broking the dreams of terrorists and foreign forces who expected our break down, brave heroes scattered their hopes silencing the terrorists and the terrorism in Nandikadal lagoon,3 years ago.
Brave warriors who fought for the independence, unity, territorial integrity and pride of nation are remembered in the hearts of grateful Sri Lankans, forever.
