Nature's Secrets offers scholarships worth Rs. 10 M

Nature's Beauty Creations Limited, one of the largest and leading herbal cosmetics manufacturer in Sri Lanka proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary on their way towards creating a global brand for the motherland by offering 100 beauty culture scholarships worth Rupees 10 million to boost the local industry while elevating its professional beauticians to global standards. Through this national scheme with an equitable spread across the country, Nature's Secrets aspires to produce capable and productive beauticians who exhibit determination, skills and the desire to succeed and win the world as "Sri Lankans" in the field of beauty culture.

In making this venture a reality, Nature's Secrets entered into an MOU with the International Academy of Beauticians (IAB), a wholly owned Sri Lankan entity headed by Deepika Gunasekera and her daughter Hasini Gunasekera making IAB as the beauty academy for Nature's Secrets. IAB is already operating two offshore academies in Bangladesh and Maldives and is also an active member of the Asia Pacific Hairdressers' and Cosmetologists' Association. It has also been recognized and certified as an "A" grade educational centre by the Vocational and Tertiary Education Commission of Sri Lanka and is the only beauty culture academy to be affiliated to Sri Jayawardanepura University providing entrepreneurship education to professionals involved in the beauty culture industry.

Nature's Secrets is already registered in more than 40 countries around the world and have their own offices in Asia and Eastern Europe. They have also established Sri Lanka's first privately owned plant research centre and tissue culture laboratory which has achieved national and international recognition by signing collaborative research agreements with the world's leading research institutes such as US National Centre for Natural Products research at the University of Mississippi, University of Florence in Italy and Sri Lanka's foremost research centre, the Institute of Fundamental Studies. We have also become an educational centre for Sri Lankan schoolchildren and university students, providing them a valuable insight into a success story of an environmentally sustainable industry.

The awarding of these scholarships is yet another pioneering move by Nature's Secrets to equip Sri Lankan beauticians with internationally accredited and recognized qualifications in the field of beauty culture. Over one thousand beauticians and cosmetologists aged between 20-35 years, representing all ethnic groups from across the country (including the North & East) applied for this biggest ever corporate social responsibility activity in the beauty culture industry. These 100 scholarships each worth Rs.100,000.00 will be awarded in two stages to professionals presently engaged in the beauty culture industry. At the end of the course, successful students will be awarded with the internationally recognized NVQ - 04 certificate along with a certificate offered by IAB which will open up new vistas for Sri Lankan beauticians in a global working environment.
