Balapatabendi to head Bribery Commission

Balapatabendi

Retired Supreme Court Judge Jagath de S. Balapatabendi was confirmed by the Parliamentary Council as Chairman- Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.

He, along with two others, were nominated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Commission, in keeping with the powers vested in him by the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.

Its other members are former Judge of the Court of Appeal L.K. Wimalachandra and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jayantha Wickremaratne.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dayasiri Fernando has been confirmed as the Chairman- Public Service Commission. Its other members are Palitha Kumarasinghe PC, S.A. Wijeratne, S.C. Mannapperuma, Ananda Seneviratne, N.H. Pathirana, S. Thillai Nadarajah, H.D.W. Ariyawansa and A. Mohamed.
