Funday Times - A Poem for the week

What shall I do?

By Devindree Peiris (6 years), Holy Family Convent, Bambalaptiya

When going to church
Or to the shops I see,
Many children just like me,
In the rain or sun,
They only ask for money,
To buy bread or a cup of tea.

Their clothes are dirty,
Torn and old,
I feel so sad
I am not so big
Like Mum and Dad,
To go to work,
And have money in my purse.

But all I have is a little till,
Which I will break,
And hope it will,
Buy them nice clothes,
And lots of food,
To make them happy,
And feel good.
