French Icon in town

“La Vie en Rose”-(The Little Sparrow) stunningly beautiful and biopic film about the legendary French icon Edith Piaf will be screened at 6.30 pm on Thursday August 12 at Alliance Francaise de Kotte.

From the mean streets of the Belleville district of Paris to the dazzling limelight of New York’s most famous concert halls, this film co-written and directed by Olivier Dahan portrays the diva’s life which was a constant battle to sing and survive, to live and love.

This 2007 film has a top award winning cast of Marion Cotillard and Gerard Depardieu among others.  The film also won five Césars, including one for Best Actress, and Cotillard won an Academy Award for her performance, marking the first time an Oscar had been given for a French-language role.

This not -to be missed film is open to the public free of charge at the AF de Kotte at 139 Jawatte Road, Colombo 05.
