University Grants Commission Recognition……
A landmark in the history of NIBM was created, with the recognition it gained from the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a degree awarding institute. The University Grants Commission is the apex body of the University System in Sri Lanka. The UGC plans and coordinates university education, allocates funds to Higher Educational Institutions, maintains academic standards, regulates the administration of Higher Educational Institutions. Consequent to the UGC recognition the Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Business Management (Special) Degree programme was designed and governed under the regulations of the UGC on offering degree programmes, this four year degree is aimed at developing a broad competence in the management of people, finance, markets and products, which is then deepened through choices and study of a specialist area. Accordingly this programme allows undergraduates to develop an in-depth understanding of one of the business concentrations and learn a broad range of managerial capabilities, problem solving and communication skills.

Programme structure of the B. Sc. in Business Management (Special) Degree consists of four stages. First two years are designed to deliver the knowledge related to different business disciplines and the third year & the final year disciplines undergraduates in their respective specialized pathways. Lectures are delivered on a full time basis during the first two years. To facilitate undergraduates to gain industry exposure, classroom lectures and discussions are conducted on an evening and weekend based system in the third and fourth year of the degree programme.
