All good things must come an end so has the Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contests.

All Island

Saji Samman (Lyceum Wattala)

As expected the perennial leaders of the three respective contests Raihaan Rizvi of Carey College, Maradana in the All-Island Contest, G. Ayesh Madushan of Holy Cross College, Kalutara in the Outstation Contest and Shaji Rayyan Samman of Lyceum International School-Wattala from the International segment are the three respective winners in the three categories.

Unlike the past years this time the organisers have decided to recognise the efforts of the young cricketers who have been voted for the second and third positions of the three categories.

As a result Nishal Fonseka of St. Benedict’s College Kotahena in the second place and Anandian Geshan Wimaladharma in the third place in the Allisland category will be recognised for their efforts. The others in their respective order are – Nalin Priyadharshana of Siri Piyarathana MV, Padukka and Anjelo Jayasinghe of Maris Stella College, Negombo in the outstation category along with Nesarajaha Revenson of Lyceum International School-Wattala and Tharusha Thilakarathne also of Lyceum International School Wattala.

The prize winners will be informed about the proceedings at the grand finale in the near future.
The readers’ prizes in this final count are: 1. S.K.Y. Hettiarachchi, Wadupola, Ibbagamuwa. 2. Nirmal Chathuranga, No 17, Balagala Road, Hendala Wattala. 3. H.M.M. Lebbe, 11/26, Rathwatta Mawatha, Badulla.
