CID purged in police shuffle

A Deputy Inspector General and 29 of his officers including SSPs, ASPs and Inspectors have been transferred with effect from Tuesday.

Deputy Inspector General Nandana Munasinghe, who was in charge of the CID, will take over as DIG (Crimes) Colombo. He will succeed Anura Senanayake who is to take over as DIG Colombo, replacing H.M.D Herath who is due to retire. Mr. Senanayake is now on Special Duty for the Nawalapitiya re-poll.
Senior DIG Keerthi Gajanayake will continue to be in overall charge of the CID.

Senior Superintendent M.K.D.W. Amarasinghe will continue to remain as Director CID. Taking over as DIG CID is Daya Samaraweera. Mr. Samaraweera was granted a field promotion as DIG.
