‘Mago Digo Dai’

Marasinghe’s maiden venture

The maiden film production of Janitha Marasinghe’s ‘Mago Digo Dai’, an entertaining movie about two police officers who are an intelligent missions is now being screened at Savoy cinema Colombo and other cinemas around the country.

The main roles of a police sergeant and a constable are played by seasoned comedian Vijaya Nandasiri and Sirasa Super Star famed Gamini Susiriwardana who is making his debut to cinema.

Directed by Lal Priyadeva, ‘Mago Digi Dai’ is the major solo production of Janitha Marasinghe who entered the cinema assisting ‘Le Kiri Kandulu’, ‘Rankevita I and II’ all directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya. Janitha is also well-known for presenting a number of box office record holding Hindi movies to the movie goers of this country.

The others in the stellar cast include Anarkalli Aakarsha, Sanath Gunathilaka, Sarath Chandrasiri, Anton Jude, Sunil Hettiarachchi, Ronnie Leitch, Wasala Senarath, Teddy Vidyalankara, Dilshani Perera, Shashiranga Wickramasekara and Sujani Fernando.

The entertaining story depicts the establishment of an intelligent unit to curb the wave of violence that is on the increase. The main role of this unit is handled by Sergeant C. K. Perera and Constable I. O. Ari.

The film opens with such a courageous mission successfully completed by the unit. The double Sergeant C. K. Perera and Constable I. O. Ari are being highly praised for their performance and presence of mind. They always manage to take precautionary measures to prevent crimes taking place.

However the truth is that they always arrest two innocent people a young lover Amila and his aide Malith.
The investigation with regard to the abduction of Minister Sathyapala’s daughter is handed over to the duo and this makes headlines islandwide. In order to assist them in the mission, a dog is also given to them. In the probe involving the abduction of the minister’s daughter the trio are given new names – Mago, Digo and Dai.

Story is by Gamini Mendis, cinematographer is Yapa Wijebandara, art director is Ranjith de Silva while make up is by Sanjaya Nipunarachchi.

Assistant director is Donald Jayantha and lyrics by Sunil Wimalaweera, Chandradasa Fernando, playback singing for ‘Mago Digo Dai’ is done by Gretian Ananda, Uresha Ravihari, Gamini Susiriwardana and Neil Warnakulasuriya.
