Carnival for a cause kicks off on April 23

By Natasha Fernandopulle

The Interact District 3220 will be hosting their main finance project for 2009/2010, this month at Sathutu Uyana.

This evening is set to be one filled with fun and excitement. One of the highlights of the evening will be a fashion show organized by former Miss Sri Lanka, Rozanne Diasz.

The show will feature some of Sri Lanka’s top models and they will all be on the catwalk, for charity. The fashion show aside, it will be a complete carnival like atmosphere with various games and the usual fun rides at Sathutu Uyana.

What is a carnival without music? Well, the organisers have not left that out, as the carnival will also feature some of the country’s well known artistes.

“This is the first time we will be having a carnival as our main finance project,” says Nadeesha Samarasinghe, Project Secretary for Inter Fiesta, adding, “In the past the Interact District had held concerts and this is set to be a mega carnival.”

All proceeds from Inter Fiesta, which the organisers hope will reach around Rs.500,000, will go towards polio eradication.

Inter Fiesta will be held on April 23 at 4pm at Sathutu Uyana. Tickets for the fun filled event will be priced at Rs.200 and will be available through Interact Clubs and at the entrance. The media sponsors for Inter Fiesta are the Sunday Times.
