Munchee Youth 19 Cricket
By M. Shamil Amit

Mahinda advanced to the quarter-finals of Munchee Youth Under 19 limited over cricket tournament when they defeated St. Sebastian’s by the Parabola System in their pre-quarter final encounter played at Moratuwa yesterday.

The match was delayed due to bad light when Mahinda, chasing 181 for victory were 141 for 8. With the light fading very badly the umpires were forced to call off the match which gave Mahinda the win as they were ahead of the required target when play was called off.

Mahinda will now meet Trinity in the quarter final scheduled to be played on March 29 at the BRC ground.
St. Sebastian’s 180 in 47.4 overs (Deshan Dias 48, Sanitha de Mel 24, Anuk de Alwis 21, Oshada Fernando 19, Amila Aponso 16; Kaushalya Gajasinghe 2 for 29, Chalana de Silva 2 for 29, Udara Jayasanka 2 for 34, Rumesh Buddika 2 for 34)

Mahinda 141 for 8 in 30.1 overs (Nisala Tharaka 46, Rumesh Buddika 24, Denuwan Rajakaruna 18; Amila Aponso 3 for 46, Anuk de Alwis 2 for 14, Sanitha de Mel 2 for 26)
