Wijeya Newspapers wins award for cleaner production

Wijeya Newspapers Ltd (WNL) was on Friday awarded the silver in ‘Recognition of Excellence in Cleaner Production Practices in Manufacturing’ in the small and medium size category at the National Cleaner Production Awards 2009 held in Colombo.

There was no gold or bronze winner in this category. WNL, publisher of a range of newspapers including the Lankadeepa, the Sunday Times and the Daily Mirror, was also given a special award in recognition of ‘achievements in material efficiency in manufacturing’ and another special award for water efficiency in manufacturing.

The awards were presented by the National Cleaner Production Centre, Sri Lanka.
