The beauty and the bold in making

The premier vocational training institute in SriLanka, Ramani Arsecularatne International Academy of Cosmetology and Fine Arts equips more than 3000 men and women from around the country in marketable skills and gears them to use these skills to venture out on their own and build a pleasing and profitable vocation.

A pioneer among Vocational Training Institutes, Ramani’s Academy has changed the lifestyles of many men and women, an achievement that she can rightly be proud of.

The International academy held its convocation ceremony on September 6 at Cinnamon Grand to celebrate the graduation of 56 students who followed a one year course of “Cosmetology “ and 16 other students who followed a 6 month Diploma course in Hair Dressing.

A Hair and Make up show was organized together with the graduation ceremony, to display the many creative talents they posses, polished and guided by the immense knowledge provided by Ramani during their study at her Academy.

Hair is often described as a crowning glory, and each of the segments in the show proved its triumph as an artistic medium blended seamlessly with their creativity in Makeup.

The students were grouped into different sections and were assigned a theme each. They were allowed thereafter to use their imaginations and the knowledge gathered during their period of study.

Inspired by the hair and makeup of ancient Egypt, the first group of students was given the theme ‘Egyptian Inspiration’, to which they have created a modern fantasy of contemporary hair styles and make up.

The second group had based their creations on the variety and versatility of the color now available for hair, makeup and nails. Ruchira Silva –of the popular designer label “REBEL” provided all the evening dresses for the above segments enhancing the glamour of their creative talents which were show cased.

Next on the show, was a wide variety of brides, Dressed beautifully, with neatly, yet glamorously designed outfits. They too had based their designs on 6 interesting themes, namely, Lotus and lace, Champagne and Roses , Crystal & Silk , Rubies and Diamonds , Orchids and Organza , and Aquamarine & pearls. Each creation was unique in its own way and the students had maintained high levels of standard in all their creations.

Being one of the most interesting segments of the show, the ‘FANTASY’ creations were exclusively created with hair and make up to evoke all of the feature of a Rain Forest – trees, water, flowers, birds and insects. In addition to show casing their individual creativity ,they also highlighted the versatility of hair when the imagination is given free rein.

The timeless beauty, grace and elegance of the sari was highlighted in the last section “Eastern Splendour”.while the saris were all contemporary, combining the exclusivity of batik on silk by Eric Suriyasena Batik ,with the exquisite good taste of the Saree Mandhir Collection, the make up was upto the minute with a bias towards an Indian “look” while the Retro inspired hair reminded us of times past.

The creations were all enhanced with a range of breath taking accessories provided by “VOGUE “ jewelers with each piece being a testament to the unique taste and craftsmanship of this premier establishment.

The night was not only a show of talent, but also an ideal example of the quality and high level of standard offered at Ramani’s academy which also an “A”grade institute registered under the Tertiary Vocational Education Commission.

Her certificates being recognized all over the world and by all embassy’s and high commissions ,Ramani Arsecularatne International Academy prides itself on encouraging students to have the confidence to express their individuality and to have supported the Sri Lankan Economy for almost two decades ,empowering and creating ladies and gents of skill and honour.
