Science and Engineering Fair in December

A recently renewed Memorandum of Understanding between collaborators, including the Ministry of Education, the National Science Foundation, Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka and Intel, has allowed the Sri Lanka Science and Engineering Fair (SLSEF) to be confirmed for its usual December showing.

According to a statement by SLSEF sponsor, Intel; "competitors for this fair will be selected from the Science Research Project competition of National Science Foundation (NSF) of Sri Lanka in November each year and the Junior Inventor of the Year (JIY) competition of Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) in October each year. The 10 best projects of each of the above two competitions of NSF and IESL will compete together at the SLSEF competition".

SLSEF winners in 2007, Yasith Lokuge of Ananda College, Praveej Jayasinghe of St. Anthony’s College and Sajeewa Hendurugoda of Nugawela Central; and, in 2008, Chandula Padmasiri of Ananda College, Yenushka Dissanayake of Gnanodaya Maha Vidyalaya and a team comprising Nishadi Ekanayake, Chaturika Sithumini and Nazeela Mazahim from Galle's Southlands College; have thus far represented Sri Lanka at the annual International Science and Engineering Fair.
