Traffic stuck at Nugegoda flyover

The Nugegoda flyover was officially opened to the public by the Minister of Highways and Road Development, T. B. Ekanayake, on January 23 this year.
Soon after the official opening of the flyover

Since then, the service road on the west side of the flyover (adjacent to SL Telecom) has not been completed. Construction work is at a standstill because of a commercial building standing in the way of the work in progress.

There is provision for a second lane of traffic on this service road to filter into S. de S. Jayasinghe Mawatha and proceed towards Colombo South Hospital.

However, at present, there is only a single lane of traffic using the road, thus causing delays, long lines of traffic and congestion.

I hope the authority concerned will expedite the reconstruction work and help ease the traffic congestion.

Gamini Ramanayake, Nugegoda
