Three women and a storm

The lover, the wife and the sister – three strong women in Noel Richards’ life...and death! Noel, the ‘alpha male’ in this tribe of women, which also includes his little daughter, seems to enjoy being the ‘master’ of the women in his life. That is, of course, until he’s found death one morning, with fifteen stab wounds to his chest and neck!

A nameless inspector summons the usual suspects to find the Noel’s killer, but discovers that each of these women seems to have secrets and motives. The question is which of them had the greatest motive. The unwelcome arrival of a storm doesn’t help the investigation. Could the murderess be Avanti– the lover, or Therese- the wife, or Chamaine – the sister? Indeed, in the world of film noir, the sultry vamp, the devoted wife and the eccentric sister seem to be recognisable archetypes.

So, who really killed Noel Richards? And will they go on to commit the crime a second time? Find out from this September, when CentreStage Productions presents the ‘cunningly wicked whodunit, Stormy Weather. The production is written and directed by Jehan Aloysius.

This novel theatre experience is presented as a black and white movie, set in the late 1940’s with both live action and filmed sequences produced by Video Image. Thus, the play is bound to be a bold and unique theatre experience for lovers of cutting-edge theatre. The show has a generous dose of suspense, drama and occasional horror, so keep the little ones at home for this one.

The experienced cast includes English theatre personalities such as Shanuki De Alwis, Dilrukshi Fonseka, Michelle Herft, Mario De Soyza, Amesh De Silva and Zahabiya Adamaly. The costumes are by Hilma Salahudeen, while the official film partner handling the filming is Video Image. Channel 1 MTV and YES FM are the electronic media partners.

Stormy Weather goes on the boards September 10-13, at the Punchi Theatre, at 7.30p.m. The box office is now open at the theatre. Seating will be limited to just 200 per night, so call 2672121 and purchase your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
