Wheel Chair tennis

Sri Lanka’s Wheel Chair tennis team comprising of Coach Jagath Welikala and players D.M Gamini, Upali Rajakaruna and Lionel Senerath did extremely well to finish fifth overall at the Invacare World Team Cup Tennis Tournament 2009 in Nottingham, England.

Sri Lanka beat Colombia by two matches to one and whitewashed Switzerland three zip, before going down to Brazil by two matches to one.

Fifteen countries other than Sri Lanka participated in this tournament. They are: Austria, Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Switzerland, Russia, Portugal, Israel, Chile, Turkey, South Africa, Croatia, Ecuador and Nigeria.
