Royal to pay tribute to its war dead

A tribute to the fallen war heroes who were past pupils of Royal College will be held on July 1 (Wednesday), at the college war memorial.

The event will be marked with the opening of the Royal College main gates, which are traditionally opened only for a visit by the Head of State or only on a very special occasion, to honour and pay tribute to the Royalists who paid the supreme sacrifice for the motherland. This will be followed by a floral tribute.

Royalists past and present with their teachers, parents and families will gather around the war memorial, where the names of the fallen heroes are immortalized in time, paying their respects on this occasion.

The chief guest at the event will be Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunge who will deliver a speech along with the Royal College principal Upali Gunasekara.

The event is organized by the Royal College Union and the School Development Society.
