Breaking free

Youth Retreat Set me Free – Probably sounds typically religious, boring, monotonous, unexciting, mind-numbing, humdrum….

“Not really” says the youth group of the Community of the Risen Lord! A group of lively enthusiastic teenagers and young professionals comes forward to challenge the mindset of the world with a different perception.

Yes, we have been thwarted by this world and yes, we do get caught in unpredictable traps and yes, we have struggles, problems, depression and addictions too. In short, we face very similar situations and barriers and live in the same environment as all of you out there. But yet, we don’t grow weary and defeated by the pressures of the world, instead we depend on a “love” that can set our hearts free.

“Jesus sets us free” shouts the CRL youth! Sorry if we paint a picture of being holy, holy, but this simply means that there is peace, joy, happiness and freedom with Jesus in us. Strangely our sinful nature, selfishness, guilt, ego and brokenness did not stop Jesus reaching out to us.

The comforting words of Jesus “Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest” have literally transformed us to experience the tangible love of Jesus in our lives Amidst great fun, fellowship, projects and awesome group sessions the CRL Youth is committed to bring hope to the lost, weary and empty lives. Drinking, partying, Clubbing, relationships, friends, careers have often led many to greater pain and enslavement. Reality and truth have left hearts cheated and defeated with suicidal despair.

Set me free can set you free claims the CRL Youth; so convinced having encountered the power of the Holy Spirit work in their lives - releasing them from bondages, weaknesses and brokenness.

And so, the youth group cries out to all teenagers and young professionals. Come and join a spirit filled group on April 19, at St Peters’ College Hall, Bambalapitiya from 9am – 5pm. For details contact 2366264 or 0602150874 or visit website: www.crlyouth.org
