Ali Campbell to perform live!

The legendary voice of Ali Campbell of UB40 fame will perform in Sri Lanka as part of Yes FM's '9 days of the 90's.' Ali Campbell, was born Alistair Ian Campbell on February 15, 1959 in Birmingham. This British singer, is a solo artiste and songwriter and was also the lead singer and founding member of the reggae band UB40.

As a band this world-famous group, sold over 70 million records worldwide while touring across the globe. They have also managed to notch up four No.1s world-wide singles, including over 40 Top 40 UK singles, have released 18 studio albums and received an Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement. At the 2007 Grammy awards UB40 were nominated for best reggae album, for their most recent album released in 2006.

UB40's former lead singer, Ali Campbell, has a voice that can be recognised anywhere along with well loved hits like, "Red Red wine," "Many rivers," "Can't help falling in love," "Don't break my heart," "Here I am," "I got you babe," and "Kingston town," while a few of his singles include, "That Look In Your Eyes," "Let Your Yeah Be Yeah," "Something Stupid," "Would I Lie To You" and "Running Free," just to name a few.

Starting from November 20, Yes FM have stopped playing all current music and instead started playing numbers from the 90's, which, as the title suggests will go on for nine days.

As part of this promotion, they will be having a 90's dance at the Zetter on November 29, while the pinnacle of the promo will be Ali Campbell and his band performing at the Hockey Grounds of the CR&FC Longdon Place, on December 2 at 7pm.

Tickets for the concert will be available at the CR&FC, Cinnamon Grand, the Yes FM Head Office, Rumours Salon, Vibrations and on line on www.me.lk.

Ali Campbell live in Sri Lanka is organized by Yes FM, while the sponsors for the event are Sprite, CIFL, The Zetter, Nokia, Signal Complete 12, Clear Shampoo, Templers Cove – Ceylinco Seylan Properties and Dominos Pizza. The official hotel for the event will be The Cinnamon Grand, while the Print Media Sponsor is The Sunday Times.
