‘Podi Malli’ in memory of Vijaya

In memory of late star Vijaya Kumaratunga's 63rd birth anniversary the National Film Corporation has organized an event including a film show at 5 pm on October 9 at the newly built cinema hall at NFC premises.

Organised by NFC chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa, Professor Sunil Ariyaratne's popular film 'Podi Malli' will be screened in memory of the superstar who shone not only as an actor but also as a singer, producer and a politician.

The film was led by Vijaya and was joined by Ravindra Randeniya, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Rukmani Devi, Thalatha Gunasekara and Piyasena Ahangama and the story, screenplay and dialogue by Dr. Tissa Abeysekera and K. D. Dayananda is the cinematographer.

Writing the musical score, Victor Ratnayake sang one of his well-known song 'Kohe Sita Oba Peminiyedo'. At this event veteran actor Ravindra Randeniya and Presidential Advisor for development of cinema will deliver the keynote address and Tissa Nagodavithana has sponsored the film.

The film is being screen after 30 years and invitation for the event could be obtained from NFC office at no 303, Baudhaloka Mawatha, Colombo-07. T. M. Sangadasa, an advisor to the Film Corporation will coordinate the event.
