Dhananjaya’s plays to the fore

A festival of short plays by Dhananjaya Karunaratne titled "Sihina Rangahala" (Theatre of Drama) goes on the boards on August 30 at the Elphinstone Theatre at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.

Chandani Seneviratne and Susith Nishantha who have taken part in "Valentine Enakan", Saumya Liyanage in "Last bus eke kathawa", Palitha Silva and Madini Malwatha in "Chandrawathie Samaga Rathriyak", Chamal Ranasinghe and Dimithu Chinthaka in "Duwana Un Dennek", Kaushalya Fernando, Chamila Peiris and Sanath Wimalasiri in "Oba Sapekshai" take on the main roles. All the plays have won awards at the State and Youth drama festivals.

Music for the festival is by Kapila Poogalaarachchi while lighting is handled by Wasantha Kumara and make-up by Bhanu Prasanna. Kosala Thottawathge will be assisting in direction while stage supervision is by Sameera Nuwan and Sumeda Niroshan and stage arrangements and costumes by Dhananjaya Karunaratne.
