Annesley returns with 'Rewind'

Annesley will be celebrating his 40 years of music with a grand Musical Show titled "Rewind" which will feature the 3 groups he represented, namely the Moonstones, Super Golden Chimes and Super Chimes.

Annesley who has captured the audiences of the 60's, 70's & the millennium with his voice, will sing all the popular songs of yesteryear with the Moonstones and Super Golden Chimes and Super Chimes. Annesley came into the music scene in 1966 where he met Clarence in Ratnapura and formed the Moonstones.

Indrani Perera joined the Moonstones in 1968 and sang the hit song 'Dilhani' Moonstones had many hit songs like 'Mango Nenda', 'Kalu Mama', Ruwan Puraya', 'Dilhani' and Gonwassa to name but a few. Clarence left the Moonstones in 1970. But Annesley continued the group taking in Mike Gunesekera and produced the hit song "Dunhinda Manamali." Clarence and Annesley could not be separated for a long time as they teamed up once again to form the Super Golden Chimes.

They produced some great songs during this period like 'Katharagama', 'Udarata Niliya', 'Gamen Liyuumak', 'Sandak Basa Giya', 'Vana Bambaro' etc.

Annesley left Super Golden Chimes in 1976 for employment and marriage. Clarence too quit S.G.C and went solo.

Annesley was out of the music scene for over 10 years and in 1989, Clarence enticed him back to music once again.

The result was a cassette titled "Rosa Male". Thereafter, Clarence, Annesley and Indrani performed on one stage for a concert titled "20 Year Explosion".

Annesley never looked back from that day and he went on to become one of the most sought after artistes for all stage shows.

The famous musical show "Stars of 70's" is the brain child of Annesley. This show was held in 1997 to a full house at St. Joseph's College auditorium, the school where Annesley studied.

"The stars of 70's is the most popular stage show where there is always a full house," says Annesley.

Annesley played a key role in re-uniting the Super Golden Chimes once again after 25 years for a Mega concert in 2003 and 2004.

In 2006 on November 18 at BMICH, Annesley will bring back wonderful memories of the 60's 70's and the millennium with his three bands, "The Moonstones", "Super Golden Chimes" and the "Super Chimes".

The show also will mark the release of his new CD under the Torana label.

"This C.D. comprises many new songs of which music and composition are by Ajantha Ranasinghe, Mahinda Bandara, Milroy Dharmaratne, Sangeeth Wickramasinghe, Kalum Srimal, Rajiv Sebastian, Mahesh Silva, Chandral Fonseka and Jagath Kulasinghe.

Annesley pays a special tribute to Clarence Wijewardene for giving him his first break in music, Sangabo Corea who discovered the hidden talent of Clarence and Annesley, Vernon and Vijaya Corea for promoting him on Radio.

The followers of Clarence, Annesley and Indrani will be given their monies worth on the Nov. 18 at BMICH when Annesley's musical life of 40 years will 'Rewind'.
