Evening of music and message

'Salt and Light' an evening of music and message, followed by prayers for healing and counselling conducted by Rev. Desmond Gunasekera from the U.S.A will be held at St. Paul's Church, Kandy from November 8 to 11 at 5.30 p.m.

The theme of this revival mission is Salt and Light, based on the words of Jesus Christ " You are the salt of the earth..you are the light of the world….".


 

In commemoration of the 100th death anniversary of the French artist Paul Cézanne which fell on October 23, this year, the Alliance française de Kandy is organising a one-week programme titled "Provence, in Paul Cézanne's footsteps".
This event is a further step by the Alliance to foster a better understanding of modern art in Sri Lanka, following the Cézanne Week that the Alliance française de Kandy organized in 2001 with the collaboration of the New Age Group.
The programme which consists of exhibitions, workshops and film screenings on the life and work of Paul Cézanne, is as follows:
November 10, 6.30 p.m : Opening of an exhibition of large reproductions of his main works and also photographs of his native region and the place he died.
This exhibition will be declared open by the Cultural Attaché, French Embassy Yves-Alain Corporeau and will continue till November 19.
November 11-12 : Art workshop for selected students from the main schools of the Kandy district.
November 15, 6.00 p.m. : Opening of the exhibition of the works of students "Landscape of my dreams".
November 17,6.30 p.m. : Film "Cézanne in Provence".

The 'Kalyana Ranga' 2006 festival of dances organised by the Sri Lanka-India Cultural Association was held recently before an appreciative audience.
At the conclusion of the festival of dances and music, the participants were presented with awards, under the patronage of Kandy SLICA President Duncan Nugawela.
