‘Kammiththa’ from Daya's comic story

'Kammiththa' is another miniplay based on a popular comic story drown by well-known scriptwriter and comic story writer, Daya Rajapakse to the 'Sunday Lankadeepa' newspaper. The nineteen episode teledrama started its telecast every Wednesday at 8.30 pm from August 30.

Hemaseeli (Semini Iddamalgoda) and her two children live in a shanty. Her husband Wimaladasa (Ananda Wickremage), a habour worker meets with an accident and loses his job.

Hemaseeli works as a domestic in Wijayagunawardena's walawwa. Vidath Wijayegunawardena (Roger Seneviratne) is Wijayagunawardena's only son. He is a divorcee and loves his mother deeply. Soloman (G. R. Perera) is a handyman in the Walawwa. Premawathi (Liyoni Kothalawela) is the tale carrier and conflict maker in the Walawwa. As a result of her tale bearing Wimaladasa is killed by Charles Appu (Bandula Wijeweera). Hemaseeli is now destitute with her two children.

Vidath Wijeygunawardena loves the innocent Hemaseeli and spends his time with her telling her of his love. Hemaseeli rejects this as she is loyal to the Walawwa. When this relationship is known Mrs. Wijeygunawardena (Manel Wanaguru) falls sick. As an answer to all the problem Hemaseeli goes abroad.

Others in the cast are Sarath Kulanga, Hansamala Janaki, Jagath Benaragama, Sarath Chandrasiri, Shiromika Fernando and Heshan Yatawara and Bagya Lakmini Fernando who were introduced as child actor and actresses to the miniscreen.

Camera handled by Kithsuiri Hewage, edited by Gayantha Sampath, story, script, and screenplay by Daya Rajapakse. Music director is Nimal Gunasekara and theme song is sung by Maurice Bani Wijesinghe. Shan Weerasinghe is the photographer.
